Who Are Caterpods?

We are a Trailer Manufacturer based in Alvington, South Gloucestershire.  For the past 10 years we have been manufacturing our own brand of Catering Trailers "Caterpods", serving large scale companies such as the National Trust, alongside many Contract Catering providers and the General Public.  Whether it be Pizza, Ice Cream, Crepes, Commercial kitchens, Burgers, Fries, Mobile bars, promotional trailers & more, we  build them from our premises here in the Forest.

We are also in the process of launching an exciting new Funky Lightweight Caravan, "Campods" (check out www.campodcaravans.com) which are a fantastic addition to our growing Company.

We are currently seeking to employ a new Trainee Fitter to join our Production Team with the job starting in January 2023..

The Role….

As a Trainee Fitter, you will be working under the Production Team Leader, training to become a fully skilled Fitter in the manufacture of Caterpods.  You will contribute & be responsible for:

  • The assembly of all major components of the trailers.
  • Fiberglass panel preparation (pre-paint).
  • Fabrication of all sundry items required in support of trailer builds. Includes, but not limited to; aluminum / stainless trims and stainless steel equipment brackets.
  • Finishing activities including, but not limited to; application of sealant, final checks and measures.
  • Quality of the finished product.

 

 

Duties & key responsibilities will include…

  • Installation of trailer running gear and lighting in accordance with procedures
  • Installation of fiberglass panels
  • Installation of interior and exterior skins
  • Installation of insulation
  • Fabricating & fitting of interior and exterior trims
  • Fabricating and fitting equipment brackets
  • Fabricating and fitting of finishing brackets
  • Installation of hatch struts, bolts and fitting plates
  • Fabricating / preparing all components required for stock such as mudguards, light brackets
  • Trailer light wiring
  • Preparing first phase electrics
  • Completing final checks and resulting actions prior to customer collection
  • Quality checking against agreed standards
  • Preparing fiberglass panels for painting
  • Fitting of gas cupboards and sundries
  • Fabrication and fitting of sinks with water / drainage provisions
  • Fitting of window

Skills, Abilities, Qualifications & Experience required..

  • GCSE C grade (or equivalent) in English & Maths
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Be able to utilize all workshop tools to fabricate and fit parts / components.
  • Working within a shop floor manufacturing environment.
  • Fabrication of components to drawings.
  • Fully grounded in the use of the major tools required for fitting purposes. Including, but not limited to; drills, cutting equipment, polishing, filing, drilling, folding and marking out
  • Health & Safety practices in the work place.
  • A motivated individual who understands their working environment.
  • A thorough understanding of the need for quality and the impact that it has on the business as a whole.
  • A good listener and the ability to execute given tasks.
  • A natural appreciation of customer service.
  • A good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organization and team members.
  • Demonstrate a positive can do attitude towards all aspects their work.

Salary..

Working a standard 36 hour working week (trialling a 4 day week), pay rates will range from £9 to £12 per hour dependent on experience.

The successful applicant will also be eligible to particiapte in our Company's Bonus Scheme, offering the opportunity to earn up to an addtional 20% (bonus is target driven)
